- Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Ankara deputy and deputy group leader Levent Gök has demanded parliament search for bugs in his party’s rooms after signals from listening devices were found in two deputies’ rooms.

Gök filed a written request to the Secretary-General’s Office in parliament, saying they had found voice recorder machines in the rooms of some deputies in the public relations building of the legislature.

He demanded a search for possible bugs in all rooms of the CHP’s group in the main building.

Gök’s demand came after bugs were found in the rooms of two CHP deputies, Mustafa Balbay and Özgür Özel.

CHP İzmir deputy Balbay said in a press conference last week that police had found signals of a bug in a picture in his new room in parliament. He demanded a further search for the bug after police said they did not have sufficient materials to detect such

devices. The room was recently allocated to Balbay and had been used by Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy Hüseyin Çelik.

Meanwhile, a bug was also found in the room used by CHP Manisa deputy Özel during the past year in parliament. Özel also filed a statement to demand a search of his new room.
