Gross External Debt Stock Rose To $396.8 Bıllıon

- Turkey's gross external debt stock rose to 396.8 billion dollars at the end of third quarter, 1.9 percent up from 389.5 billion dollars at the end of last year, according to the data released by the Undersecretariat of Treasury, on Wednesday.

The share of private sector debt was at 69.4 percent with to 275.2 billion dollars and the share of public sector debt was at 29.9 percent with 118.6 billion dollars.

Rest of the debt stock was representing the external liabilities of the Central Bank of Turkey with a portion of 0.7 percent corresponding to 2.9 billion dollars.

The external debt stock of central government stood at 85.6 billion dollar as of the third quarter of 2014, 57.9 billion of which was the stock of bonds issued in the international financial markets.

The outstanding external debt of local administrations, funds, public banks and other non-financial public units is 33.1 billion for the same period. Short term private sector external debt stood at 112.5 billion dollar and 76.2 billion dollar of this amount belonged to the banking sector.

PRIVATE SECTOR DEBT
The long term external debt stock of private sector is 162.7 billion as of the third quarter of 2014. Non-financial institutions have the largest share in long term private sector external debt with 86.0 billion nominal amount.

The Central Bank of Turkey’s long term external debt is 2.5 billion and short term liabilities amounts to 417 million in third quarter of 2014. External debt stock of Turkey fell by 12.3 billion in June – September, due to the changes in exchange rates.

EUROPEAN UNION DEFINED
Turkey's net debt stock and general government debt stock have been realized 177.9 billion lira and 553.7 billion lira respectively, defined by European Union standards for the third quarter of 2014.

TREAUSURY GUARANTEE
Outstanding debt stock of Treasury guaranteed external loans stood at 10.5 billion dollars and outstanding debt stock of loans provided by public institutions without Treasury guarantee stood at 8.5 billion dollars as of the third quarter of 2014.
