- Saving probability of households in Turkey rose in February, despite the financial situation expectations worsened for both themselves and the country, according consumer confidence index data, released on Thursday.
The consumer confidence index calculated from the results of the consumer tendency survey carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by 0.5 percent in February to 68.06, fuelled by high rise at probability of saving, up from 67.71 in January.
The financial situation expectation of household index fell by 1.2 percent to 86.75 level in February, which show the decrease in the ratio of better financial situation expectation of household in the next 12 months period.
The probability of saving index rose by 5.5 percent to 25 in February, from 23.69 in January, despite worsening expectations on household economic situation, showing that the possibility of saving of consumers in the next 12 months period increased compared to the previous month.
The general economic situation expectation index also fell down by 0.7 percent to 90.87 in February as a result of a decrease at number of consumers expected a better general economic situation in the next 12 months compared to the previous month.
The number of people unemployed expectation index rose by 2.7 percent to 69.64 in February, despite worsening expectations on general economic situation, showing the decrease at the ratio of people expecting an increase in the number of unemployed persons in the next 12 months.
