The “Hi Friend” organization have gathered South Korean children between ages of 7-14 in Midyat, to hold various events, religious rites and ceremonies for three days.
Accompanied by Assyrians in the province bordering Syria, children of Midyat play games together with their visitors coming from a 15,000 km away country. Along with children, Assyrian parents and attendants of the event within the visiting group share time together.
With regards to these events having been geld in Mor Hobil and Mor Abrohom Monastery along with Mor İsmuni Church during evening hours, Midyat Assyrian Churches Association Board Chairman Yusuf Türker said, “We are stuck in a fire circle. We hope these sorts of gatherings could ensure peace, love and respect to all countries."
The organizator from South Korea added that this was their first time in Midyat, and said, “We came here in attempt to weld these children together, so they can play games, make friendship. There is a war close to here, in Syria, in Iraq…We are deeply sorry about that. We pray for children of those countries. Children have the rights so survive, not a single children should be killed.”
