- The ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) government finds money to send aid to Myanmar, but not Turkish farmers, National Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli said June 2, during his party’s rally in the eastern province of Elazığ.

“The ones who make it rain on Somalia are penny-pinching toward the pensioners. The ones who spend a fortune on Myanmar are brutal towards farmers. The ones who spend billions of U.S. dollars on Syrian refugees are insensitive towards our oppressed” Bahçeli said, referring to the AKP government.

Bahçeli used President Tayyip Erdoğan, who said a couple of days ago they had financed the collective wedding ceremonies of 2,000 couples in Palestine, as an example.

“He [Erdoğan] adds that they would construct a hospital and a stadium too. Well then who will give the cash my brothers from Elazığ need when they get married?” Bahçeli asked.

“The ones who delegate the rights of people from Elazığ to Palestine and Libya are pitiless and cruel towards the people who work for minimum wage.”

Bahçeli accused Erdoğan of having his mind on the billions of dollars in his own bank accounts and that he did not think of how people living on a minimum wage made it through the end of the month.

“[Erdoğan] was emptying the state’s safe on his agenda. How the people earning minimum wage lives, what they eat and drink does not fall within his area of interest” Bahçeli said.
