– Within the cooperation of the Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Association of Alevi and Bektaşi communities and an art school in Central Anatolian province of Kayseri, children have painted the picture of peace, amid violent security operations and terror attacks tought to have boosted a contentious language within the society.
Within the event, students have illustrated their desire for peace with colours and traces, though their own dream, perceptions.
The free summer school also introduces children art, science, maths, English, chess, as well as art and culture activities with excursions under guidance, as well as saz [stringed musical instrument], painting and sculpture.
“With these events, we dream of a world where children live in fraternity and peace. We asked the children to draw the first thing that sprang to their minds. Some od them drew a pigeon which symbolizes peace, while some of them drew a pencil in a hand, flowers, stars, rabbits…One child even drew a piegeon that advancing towards gunshots fearlessly” said the owner of the art school, painter and sculptor Uygur Orhan.
The large painting illustrating peace, created by children’s cooperative work, was placed to the ‘seat of honor’ in the atelier.
