- New construction floor areas permitted by the municipalities rose by 24.3 percent to 217.7 million squaremeters in 2014, against the preivious year, according to the Building Permits data released by Turkstat on Tuesday.
The number of buildings, value of buildings and number of dwelling units increased by 13.5 percent, 24.3 percent, 37.2 percent and 21.2 percent respectively according to the Construction Permits data given by municipalities to the buildings.
Total floor area of buildings rose to 217.7 million squaremeters, 122.4 million squaremeters of which were residential buildings, 58.7 million squaremeters non-residential buildings and 36.6 million squaremeters were common buildings, like schools, public offices.
Private sector had the highest share with 187.9 million squaremeters or 86.3 percent, followed by public sector with 25.8 million squaremeters and construction cooperatives with 4.0 million squaremeters respectively.
Floor area of buildings given occupancy permits increased by 9.4 percent to 150.8 million squaremeters, 91.1 million squaremeters or 60.4 percent of which were built as residential buildings and 38.0 million squaremeters or 25.2 percent as non-residential buildings, while 21.7 million squaremeters or 14.4 percent were common buildings, like schools, public offices.
Private sector had the highest share with 131.0 million squaremeters or 86.8 percent, followed by public sector with 16.1 million squaremeters or 10.7 percent and construction cooperatives with 3.8 million squaremeters or 2.5 percent respectively.
