Retail Turnover Rise Doubles Volume Increase In November

- Retail sector turnover rose by 8.5 percent in Ndvember on annual basis, more than double of the 3.8 percet rise in volumes over the same period, due to high inflation in Turkey.

Retail sales volume increased by 3.8 percent in November, against the same month of previous year, according to the Retail Sales Volume Index data, released by Turkish Statistical Institute.

Food, drinks and tobacco sales volume rose by 1.8 percent, non-food, sales volume rose by 1.9 percent and automotive fuel sales volume increased by 10.0 percent, over the same period.

Considering the details of the non-food sectors; computers, books, telecommunications equipment sales volume fell by 2.9 percent, electronic goods and furniture sales volume rose by 1.4 percent, textiles, clothing and footwear sales volume rose by 5.9 percent, medical goods and cosmetic sales rose by 8.3 percent and sales via mail orders and internet rose by 25.7 percent, over the same period.

ANNUAL TURNOVER CHANGES
Calendar adjusted retail turnover with current prices rose by 8.5 percent in November compared with the same month of previous year.

In the same month, food, drinks and tobacco sales rose by 13.6 percent, non-food, sales rose by 8.5 percent and automotive fuel sales rose by 3.1 percent.

MONTHLY VOLUME CHANGES
Seasonal and calendar adjusted retail sales volume with constant prices rose by 0.6 percent in November compared with the previous month.

In the same month, food, drinks and tobacco sales volume remained stable, non-food, except automotive fuel, sales volume rose by 0.5 percent and automotive fuel sales volume rose by 1.7 percent.

Considering the details of the non-food sectors sales volume, computers, books, telecommunications equipment sales fell by 1.0 percent, electronic goods and furniture rose by 2.1 percent, textiles, clothing and footwear rose by 0.6 percent, medical goods and cosmetic rose by 1.1 percent and sales via mail orders and internet rose by 3.3 percent, over the same period.
