– In ancient site of Laodicea located in Denizli province, head parts of two statues that have been burried 10 meters under the ground by smugglers to unearth later were brought to light after 12 years.

The two heads of goddess of reason, crafts, arts and literature Athena along with Janus, god of beginnings and transitions, unearthed in Stadium Street was hold under protection. The statues are though to date 1800 years back in time, to second century B.C.

Along with these two artefacts, the ancient site of Laodicea offers a journey in the history illustrating a significant textile center of the era. The excavation works have unearthed weaving rooms, 1500 year old woollen fabric and painting kits. The excavation team, thus, revealed the admire of the people of Laodicea to Athena, the goddess of crafts.

The works have also brought to light three statue heads and sundial at the site.
