Signed by Gülten Kışanak, Mayor of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and Co-chair Fırat Anlı, a message was published on the official municipality website, reading “We condemn vehemently the massacre in Suruç, and give families of the ones who have lost their lives along with people all over Turkey our condolences”.

Mayor Gülten Kışanak and employees observed a minute’s silence, in front of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.

In Hakkari as well, the DBP Diyarbakır Headquarters, Metropolitan Municipality and some of the shop keepers in the city protested the massacre by hanging black rags on their shops. Co-chairs of the municipality, Dilek Hatipoğlu and Nurullah Çiftçi have also expressed their condolences, with a written statement appearing on the screen that their names are written. Women in southeastern provinces tied black ribbons over their headscarfs, showing their mourning.
