Istanbul, May 4 (DHA) - Consumer prices rose by 1.63 percent in April, higher than the expectations of the economists at banks and brokerage companies, at around 1.3 - 1.4 percent, according to the data released on Monday.
Consumer prices rose by 4.71 percent in the first four months of the year, while annual inflatuon rose to 7.91 percent at the end of April, up from 7.61 percent at the end of March. The twelve months moving averages basis rise was at 8.57 percent in April.
The highest monthly increase was 12.30 percent in clothing and footwear, due to new season, while the indices rose for food and non-alcoholic beverages 1.63 percent, for furnishings and household equipment 1.35 percent, for hotels, cafes and restaurants 1.27 percent and for miscellaneous goods and services 1.24 percent. The only monthly decrease was 0.28 percent in communications.
The highest annual increase was 14.36 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by hotels, cafes and restaurants with 13.34 percent, miscellaneous goods and services with 9.90 percent, housing with 8.21 percent, education with 7.88 percent.
In April 2015 within average prices of 426 items in the index, average prices of 57 items remained unchanged while average prices of 296 items increased and average prices of 73 items decreased.
Domestic producer price index increased by 1.43 percent
Domestic producer price index rose by 1.43 percent on monthly basis, increased by 4.06 percent on December of the previous year basis, increased by 4.80 percent on same month of the previous year basis and increased by 7.36 percent on the twelve months moving averages basis in April 2015.
