Turkish Industrial Production Increased By 2.6 Percent In 2014

- Calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 2.6 percent in 2014 against the previous year, while average industrial production increased by 3.6 percent, over the same period, according to the industrial production data, released by Turkstat on Monday.

In the sub sectors of the industry, mining and quarrying index increased by 7.0 percent, manufacturing index increased by 2.8 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 0.1 percent in December 2014, compared with the same month last year.

When calculated on average data, mining and quarrying increased by 7.4 percent, manufacturing increased by 3.2 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 4.6 percent in 2014, compared with the average of the previous year.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production decreased by 0.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, while mining and quarrying index increased by 1.8 percent, manufacturing index decreased by 0.4 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 2.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2014, compared with the previous quarter.

Calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 1.9 percent compared with the same quarter of last year, while mining and quarrying index increased by 6.6 percent, manufacturing index increased by 1.5 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 2.5 percent in fourth quarter of 2014, compared with the same quarter of last year.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production increased by 1.2 percent compared with the previous month. In the sub sectors of the industry, mining and quarrying index increased by 3.2 percent, manufacturing index increased by 1.6 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index decreased by 1.9 percent in December 2014, compared with the previous month.

According to the main industrial groupings classification, the largest increase was in capital goods by 6.5 percent in December of 2014, compared with the previous month.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the largest increase was in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 28.6 percent, followed by manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 9.3 percent and manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers by 8.0 percent on monthly basis in December.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the highest decrease was in manufacture of other transport equipment by 17.6 percent, followed by printing and reproduction of recorded media by 10.6 percent and manufacture of leather and related products by 5.8 percent on monthly basis in December.
