- In Çamlıhemşin District of Rize, where the controversial “Green Road” project focusing on Samistal Pasture has been recently halted, villagers protested the arrival of heavy equipments in attempt to resume works, after four months.
Locals have been resisting to the construction and facing severe interventions of the gendarmerie in the last months.
As villagers found the caterpillars back in the region despite the decision, they organized a sit-in and blocked the way of the caterpillars. The operator of the caterpillar had to leave the region and return.
“We are protecting our pasture, our childhood. They are committing a crime” said protesters, claiming that the constructers have refused to show permit papers.
