Sinan Korkmazer / Nevşehir, July 31 ( DHA) - The excavation and cleaning works on the largest underground city of the world in central Anatolian province of Nevşehir have unearthed equipments and life spaces belonging to various civilizations.
Excavations works near the Nevşehir castle, are comprehending an area of 11 neighbourhoods within the 450,000 squaremeters large ancient underground city, have been launched by the Nevşehir Culture and Tourism Protection and Development Regions Board, after having been announced as the third Region Archaeological Site.
Within the excavation works, the team has unearthed sepulchre ruins, from the late Roman term, along with two “Bezirhane” (seed oil process unit) dating back to early periods of Anatolian civilisations.
Additionally, pieces of pots and pans used in the house and kitchen, dating back to periods from late Roman to early Byzantium have been found during the works. Pipes and oil-lamps have also been unearthed and affiliated to the Ottoman and early Republican terms.
Excavation and cleaning works continue in the region.
