Dollar Hits 2.71 Lira, As Death Of Two Police Officers Strike Şanlıurfa

On July 20, 32 young activists were killed in a suspected ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) suicide bombing, leaving more than 100 wounded in Suruç district of Şanlıurfa province bordering Syria’s Kobane.

After the latest reports from Şanlıurfa striking today’s agenda, the dollar surged to 2.7125 lira, up from around 2.68 lira level at the opening on July 22, while euro climbed to 2.97 lira level, from 2.63 lira it was traded at the opening.

The announcement of two police officers’ death in Şanlıurfa also hit share prices at Borsa Istanbul as well, while Index fell more than 1.0 percent. Main index of Borsa Istanbul has fallen to the score of 81,031 points.
