Famous Russian Author Larisa Vasilyeva In Istanbul For “Kremlin Wives”

– World renowned Russian female Russian author Larisa Vesilyeva has come to Istanbul within an introduction programme of her new novel “Kremlin Wives”, in an event hosting Turkey’s leading intellectuals, where she also referred to her anecdotes with Nazım Hikmet.

“Kremlin Wives” that has been interpreted by ETON Press House to Turkish, was introduced to literature world in a meeting at Beyoğlu Pera Palas that hosted historicist Professor İlber Ortaylı and President of Turkish Journalists’ Association (TGC) Turgay Olcayto among many others.

Larisa Vasilyeva addressed the moment she had found the chance to meet and have a chat with Turkey’s prominent poet Nazım Hikmet Ran.

“I was a university student in Moscow, when they deployed me as guide in an event. My eyes immediately caught him. This was Nazım Hikmet. He has noticed I was looking at him with great attention. Suddenly, we began to walk towards each other. I accompanied him to show the university building but he was not interested in what I was telling him, at all. He instantly felt devastated and told we could have a cup of tea together. Later on, I saw him having his meal at the house of Writers Union. There was a women next to her, that I really disliked, and I did not even know who she was. Then I recognized, I had a crush on Nazık Hikmet, which could easily happen” said Vasilyeva.

Following the programme, the Russian author had a talk with Professor İlber Ortaylı in Russian. Vasilyeva told she founded Istanbul dazzling.

About “Kremlin Wives”

The book tells the stories of people and their wives who had lived in the Kremlin Palace beginning from periods of Soviet leaders Lenin and Stalin, refers to the personalities under shadow, interesting moments, unknown traits of people.

World renowned Russian poetess, prose-writer Larisa Vasilyeva who has begun writing poetry in her childhood. For over five years Larisa Vasilyeva and her husband, a reporter had lived in Great Britain. Later on, there appeared the book “Albion and Time Mystery” (1978). In 1983 she wrote “A Book about My Father” (a novel-chronicle). Her books “The Kremlin Wives” (1993) and “The Children of the Kremlin” (1997) were a great success. In 1999 new books of the writer were issued: “The Wives of the Russian Crown” and “The Wife and Muse” – about a secret and enigmatic love of A.S. Pushkin. She is also the head of the Authoress League and of the information company “Atlantida”.
