- Calendar adjusted industrial production fell by 2.2 percent on annual basis, for the first time in two years, despite expectations to rise at around 1.6-1.7 percent, according to Turkstat data released on Monday.

Mining and quarrying index decreased by 11.5 percent and manufacturing index fell by 2.4 percent, while electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose by 2.9 percent in January, against the same month last year.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production fell by 1.4 percent on monthly basis.

Mining and quarrying index decreased by 7.4 percent and manufacturing output fell by 1.4 percent, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply rose by 1.1 percent in January, on monthly basis.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing, the largest decrease was in computer, electronic and optical products output by 11.6 percent, followed by electrical equipment by 9.0 percent and wood and of products of wood and cork by 8.2 percent in January, against to the previous month.

The highest increase was in production of other transport equipment by 78.7 percent, followed by coke and refined petroleum products by 17.2 percent and leather and related products by 5.4 percent in January, on monthly basis.
