– In Gemlik district of northwestern province of Bursa, more than 200 lawyers, with the participation of HDP deputies, held a protest for Abdullah Öcalan, the jailed PKK leader who is serving a life sentence on the İmralı Island.
Pınar Akdemir declared that the "communication ban" to lawyers’ regular visits to İmralı has passed four years, in a press statement on behalf of the group of lawyers who have gathered in front of the Gemlik Gendarmerie Command.
“The ban at İmralı is not limited to the visits of his family and lawyers. Öcalan is the only prisoner in Turkey that cannot benefit from rights for communication, having phone calls with his family and accessing to information” added Akdemir.
HDP deputies have also participated to the protest, including the HDP Batman Deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran, Şırnak Deputy Aycan İrmez, Muş Deputy Burcu Çelik, Şanlıurfa Deputy Dilek Öcalan (niece of Abdullah Öcalan), Iğdır Deputy Mehmet Emin Adıyaman, Bursa Deputy Asiye Kolçak and Van former deputy Aysel Tuğluk.
