Share Of Entrepreneurs Employed In Total Employment Falls

- The share of employed as entrepreneurs in total employment fell in the second successive year to below 5.0 percent,

- The share of employed as entrepreneurs in total employment fell in the second successive year to below 5.0 percent, while the share of women in total entrepreneurs rose over the same period, according to the data released by Turkstat on Wednesday.

The share of employed as entrepreneurs in total employment fell to 4.6 percent in 2013, from 5.0 percent in 2012, which stood at 5.3 percent in 2010, according to the Entrepreneurship data of Turkstat.

The share of female employed as employer in total entrepreneurs rose to 8.0 percent in 2013, from 7.5 percent thpe year before and 6.9 percent in 2010, while share of male fell to 92.0 percent over the same period.

The number of active enterprises rose to 2.65 million in 2012. Enterprises which had 1-19 persons employed in industry and service sectors constituted 97 percent of total number of enterprises, 45.3 percent of employment, 20.2 percent of value added at factor cost.

While size classes were increasing, it was observed that the number of enterprises decreased, value added at factor cost and the number of persons employed increased. Enterprises which have 250 and more persons employed constituted 0.2 percent of total number of enterprises, 24.2 percent of employment, 46.1 percent of value added at factor cost.

In 2012, 40.3 percent of the active enterprises were in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 15.9 percent were in transportation and storage, 12.7 percent were in manufacturing industry according to Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community.

Manufacturing industry took place on the top as the share of employment with 27.3 percent and share of value added at factor cost with 33.6 percent.

Total 41.0 percent of the enterprises which have 1-19 persons employed were in wholesale and retail trade, while enterprises which have 1-19 persons employed constituted 37.8 percent of employment, 36.4 percent of value added at factor cost in Wholesale and retail trade.

According to age groups and sectoral distribution of employed as employer, the highest share in agricultural sector was 15 percent in the 40-44 age group, while in non-agricultural sector was 19.3 percent in the 35-39 age group.
