- Father of toddler Aylan Kurdi of Syrian origin, marking the agenda with his picture lying lifeless facedown, washed ashore off Turkey’s Bodrum, urged the international community to recognize the migrants.
“There is a war going on where we live, in conclusion. We have fled the war. We want the world to see us, recognize us. We have went through a disaster. But measures should be taken to prevent another disaster. These miseries should end” urged 40-year-old Kurdi.
Abdullah Kurdi told he wanted to bury his loved ones in Kobane, where they have come from. “My sister lives in Canada. Canadian official called me to ask if I wanted to burry my wife and kids in Canada. I didn’t accept. I am waiting here to take my corpses, and bury them in Kobane.
Abdullah Kurdi was one of the survivors of the deadly incident off Aegean beach in Muğla, as two boats sank off and 12 people including children drowned. Kurdi lost his two children, Aylan and Garip Kurdi, and his 27-year-old wife after the incident. The picture of the lifeless bodies of the toddlers has sparked an outrage across the world, bringing the migrant crisis of Europe back to the agenda.
