Turkey's Foreign Trade Volume Shrinks By 10 Percent In H1

- Turkey's total foreign trade volume decreased by 10 percent in the first half of the year to 180 billion

- Turkey's total foreign trade volume decreased by 10 percent in the first half of the year to 180 billion dollars, against 200 billion dollars in the same period of last year, according Foreign Trade Statistics data, released on Friday.

Exports fell by 8.2 percent tı 73.5 billion dollars and imports fell by 10.9 percent to 106.7 billion dollars over the same period, according to the joint data of Turkstat and the Ministry of Customs and Trade. Foreign trade deficit fell to 33.2 bllion dollar in first half, from 39.7 billion dollars ih the same period in 2014.

Turkey's exports fell by 6.9 to 12.0 billion dollars and imports fell by 12.5 percent to 18.2 billion dollars in June, pushing foreign trade deficit by 21.6 percent to 6.2 billion dollars in the same period. In June 2015, exports coverage imports was 65.9 percent, while it was 61.9 percent in June 2014.

Exports to the European Union decreased by 6.6 percent

As compared with the same month of the previous year, exports to the EU-28 decreased by 6.6 percent from 5 billion 926 million dollars to 5 billion 535 million dollars. The proportion of the EU countries was 46.1 percent in June 2015, while it was 46 percent in June 2014.

The main partner for exports was Germany

In June 2015, the main partner country for exports was Germany with 1 billion 138 million dollars. Germany was followed by The United Kingdom with 814 million dollars, Iraq with 689 million dollars and Italy with 595 million dollars.

The top country for imports was China

In June 2015, the top country for Turkey’s imports was China with 2 billion 41 million dollars, records for imports range from Germany with 1 billion 891 million dollars, Russia with 1 billion 744 million dollars and Italy with 1 billion 10 million dollars.
