Turkey's Tourism Income Rose By 6.2 Percent In 2014

- Tourism income increased by 6.2 percent to 34.3 billion dollars in 2014, while number of visitors rose by 5.6 percent over the same period, according the data released by Turkstat on Friday.

Number of visitors increased 5.6 percent in 2014, to 41 million, 86.6 percent or 35.9 million of which were foreigners, and 13.4 percent or 5.6 million Turkish citizens resident abroad.

Tourism income rose to 34.3 billion in 2014, 81.5 percent of which earned from the foreign visitors and 18.5 percent from citizens resident abroad.

Average expenditure of the visitors stood at 828 dollars per capita, where foreigners' avarage expenditure was at 775 dollars per capita and expenditure of the Turkish citizens resident abroad stood at 1,130 per capita.

Individual expenditures of the visitors stood at 26 billion dollars in 2014 and 8.3 billion of tourism income was obtained by package tour expenditures.

Tourism expenditure of the Turkish citizens abroad rose by 4.1 percent to 5.5 billion dollars, 4.4 billion dollars of which was in individual expenditures and 1.0 billion dollars in package tour expenditures.

Number of Turkish citizens visited abroad increased by 6.1 percent to 7.98 million, with an average expenditure 685 dollars per capita.
